Solar Panels Plight!

So in a day and age when we should all have solar panels on our roofs instead of shingles it really is a shame to hear that solar panels are in trouble……

Here’s why…. in order to create solar panels they need silicon wafers to be created (this tends to come from sand)….. but the electronics industry (think LCD tv’s) is using up all the silicon wafers…. sad isn’t it?

Solar panels produce some of the best energy out there… it’s better then wind energy and geo-thermal since the sun is a better source…. yet we screw ourselves over by using up all the silicon to produce products for our WANTS rather then our NEEDS……. I’ve read that if we could get just 20% of the USA on self-sustaining solar panel energy we could actually produce an effect on the climate changes….. meaning that we could actually start making an impact on the global warming that’s happening…. just 20%! But most scientists say they’d like MORE then 20% of the US to be one some sort of self-sustaining energy source to REALLY create a positive impact…….

Now if only we could stop being so selfish and needy about comfort items and actually focus on the impact we make on the environment around us……. our kids are in a world of hurt if we continue to live wastefully…..
